Trains need to stop and ours are no exception!
In advance of operational visitor trains from our new platform, we have installed a reclaimed buffer stop at the end of the line.
While not quite rivalling those at Kings Cross or Euston, our new installation will still carry out the same vital function on our railway.
The specialised item was recovered from a local siding many years ago and has patiently bided its time ready for reuse in a new location.
The buffer stop will be completed with a purpose built timber cross baulk bolted to the metal uprights and will carry a red warning light signifying the southern terminus of our passenger carrying line.
Our next task is to lay track into the passenger platform and this will be cut to length and bolted to the buffer stop.
